In this workshop, you will join in the kitchen of João's family-run bakery in downtown Lisbon to learn the pastry’s delicious secrets from one of Portugal’s top bakers - a fifth generation family baker from Lisbon. Together you will make puff pastry from scratch filled with the creamiest custard ever. Meanwhile, João will entertain you with his stories about life as a baker. Whether your first time in the kitchen, or you are a Michelin star chef, you will receive pro tips to making bakery level results!

João grew up with generations of bakers before him, setting the stage for his passion for baking, and in particular, for the country’s beloved dish. At the age of 13, João embraced the family tradition and is now running Pastelaria Batalha, which won the silver medal for Best Pastel de Nata in Portugal. Having welcomed guests from around the world to his shop, he is now looking forward to sharing the dish in your kitchen.
